Chamber to hold tourism reception Friday

DAPHNE — On Friday, visitors to the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce Scenic Overlook Visitors Center will receive a warm southern style welcome! An open house to celebrate the success of the center will be held during See America/National Tourism Week, May 13-19. The open house will be 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce invites residents, chamber members and local government officials to drop by the Visitor Center during the open house and learn how tourism helps to improve the local economy.

Along with the usual warm welcome such as giving directions, handing out maps, brochures on restaurants, golf, attractions, historic sites, lodging facilities and complimentary reservations, guests will be treated to delicious refreshments provided by local restaurants.

The Visitors Center will be elegantly decorated in Southern style with lovely magnolias. Some high school ambassadors, dressed in antebellum style, will be on hand to greet guests and pose for pictures with those visitors eager to take home a memory.

During 2006, nearly 30,000 visitors registered at the center. Many of the guests were over-nighting and site seeing on the Eastern Shore as well as other parts of Baldwin County.

Call the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce at (251) 621-8222 for more information or visit www.eschamber.com.
