ROBERTSDALE, Alabama - The Lady Saints of Central Christian School scored early and often Tuesday night in an 80-21 rout of the Jones Christian Academy Warriors.

A fast break offense from the very start and a suffocating defense against a young Warrior team led to the easy win for the Saints.

“I was very proud of the girls tonight. Everybody played really well tonight and I thought they did a good job,” Saints coach Michael Turner said. “I thought we handled the ball well we just had a few turnovers I wouldn’t like to see but that’s something we can work on.”

In a night when everybody on the team not only saw action but also scored a basket, the Saints had three players score in double figures including freshman Haley Henson who had a game high 19 points on 73% shooting.

Sophomore Becky Shelton and senior Fallon Williams also scored in double figures with 16 and 15 respectively.

“As a freshman (Henson) she came off the bench and scored 19 for us. She is a really good quick player; she did a great job for us tonight,” Turner said. “We also had a senior (Williams) tonight who doesn’t score much for us who had 15 tonight.”

In a game that was as lopsided as the game Thursday night, Coach Turner had the opportunity to empty his bench and let the whole team get valuable experience.

“We usually rely on McKenna Fountain and she only had eight points tonight,” Turner said. “When your bench and your other players can score that many points it’s a good night for us. I was proud of them.”

As a team the Saints shot 52% from the field including hitting 3-of-6 from behind the arc.

The visiting Warriors scored the first basket of the game before they watched the Saints score the next 30 points of the game before taking a 48-11 lead into the half.

The Saints scored 24 points in the first three quarters of the game before putting on the breaks in the fourth quarter.

With the win the Saints improve their record to 5-3 on the season. In their five wins the Saints have averaged 60 points. 80 points surpasses the previous season high of 59 which came in a 59-6 win over Calvary Christian Academy.

The Saints will be in action again on Dec. 13 when they travel to play conference rival Alethia Christian Academy. Tip-off is set for 5:30.
