Causeway Classic Wooden Boat Show returns Oct. 24 to benefit Child Advocacy Center

The 3rd Annual Causeway Classic Wooden Boat Show will return to the Causeway on Saturday, Oct. 24, bringing classic wooden boats, their owners and collectors together at Bluegill Restaurant while raising money for the Child Advocacy Center of Mobile.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Bluegill Restaurant, 3775 Battleship Parkway in Spanish Fort. Admission is $10 at the door, with all proceeds benefiting the Child Advocacy Center, a news release said.

Now in its third year, the show has grown into a fall tradition on the Causeway, drawing boat enthusiasts and community members interested in the craftsmanship of classic wooden vessels while supporting child abuse prevention and intervention services in the Mobile area.

The event began when Channing Flowers organized the first show as a way to help his father, Chan Flowers, while he was recovering from a debilitating condition that significantly limited his mobility, the release said. As Flowers continues his recovery, the event has evolved into an opportunity to bring the community together while supporting a local cause.

“It has really been exciting to see this event grow every year. My son, Channing, organized the first event as a way to help me when I was recovering from a debilitating condition that took away much of my mobility. Now that I am on the path to recovery, we see it as a way to connect the community and support a very important cause right here locally. The Child Advocacy Center does so much important work and we are proud to help,” Chan Flowers, event organizer, said in the release.

The 2025 show drew more boats than the previous year and raised a little more than $16,000 for the Child Advocacy Center.

“It keeps growing exponentially. Last year's event drew even more boats than the year before, and we raised a little over $16,000 for the Child Advocacy Center. In addition to all the great boats and folks, it’s a fun venue. We’ll be selling short-sleeve, long-sleeve, and dry-fit shirts as well as hats. Artist Devlin Wilson will be signing 100 limited edition numbered prints of his original painting, and of course, all proceeds will go to the Child Advocacy Center,” Flowers said.

This year's show will include short-sleeve, long-sleeve and dry-fit shirts and hats for sale. Artist Devlin Wilson also will sign 100 limited-edition numbered prints of his original painting. Event artwork is by Devlin Wilson Fine Arts.

Wooden boat owners interested in entering the show can contact Flowers at (251) 533-3486 for details and registration.
