Catherine Place holds annual art show

Catherine Place Assisted Living Community in Daphne, Ala. recently hosted its annual Resident Art Show featuring works of 12 resident artists. The body of artwork on display was created by residents in their Wednesday watercolor class instructed by Marilyn Ammons, a successful local artist who volunteers her talent and time. Some of the resident’s art work is drawn and painted by the resident. Other artwork is drawn with the help of Ammons then painted by the resident. The residents have learned different watercolor techniques such as: applying salt to wet paint for texture, wet on wet, wet on dry and mixing paint on paper.

Artists included Vonceil Lety, Virginia Nelson, Juanita Webb, Reba Barthella, William Lauten, Helen Callaway, Theresa Cook, Betsy Leyser, Bobbye Mays, Bib Weeks, Helen Zayak and Neil Brasher. The show was on exhibit for families, friends and the community. Local artists who support and mentor the residents attended show including Nancy Raia, B‘Beth Weldon and B. Sumrall.
