Cater Lee will be greatly missed

Baldwin County lost a real asset with the passing of Cater Lee. He has brought employment and families into this area with Vulcan Signs and Stamping. But that is only a small part of what he has done for us. His leadership in community activities and aiding in guiding the growth of both Gulf Shores and Foley.

I first met Cater in the late 1960s when he was bringing his industry to Foley. Some large tanks were delivered to the plant site and needed to be moved into the cradles; it was hot and heavy work. I was asked to bring my big military type boom truck. Moving the tanks was not easy. It required “bumping” the tanks along the ground because I could not lift them while moving. Two men guided the tanks manually until the job was completed. What I didn’t know that one of the workers was Cater! The man was known as a leader but he was a man who lead by example. He gained my everlasting admiration and respect by his actions.

We will all miss him but the good news is we had his energy and leadership during a rapid growing South Baldwin County. The other good news is that his legacy will be carried on with Bubba, Tommy and Linda, his children, who have made him so proud. What a father and what a community leader.

I am blessed to have had his friendship for so many years, and I thank him for sharing himself and now his family to carry on in the same way that he taught them. Thanks, Cater
