Donald Lee Carter, 78, a native of Indiana and resident of Fairhope, died Thursday, July 31, 2008.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of Scenic Heights Baptist Church. He retired in 1985, after 28 years of service, from Monsanto fibers plant in Pensacola as chief draftsman in research and design.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Agnes Carter, Fairhope; son, Dr. Randy (Heidi) Carter; grandchildren, Austin and Lauren Carter of Salt Lake City, and Lance Cpl. Brandon Carter, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; sister, Phyllis Adams, Argos, Ind.; brother, Shirley (Margie) Carter of Plymouth, Ind.; three sisters-in-law, Janice Carter of Plymouth, Ind., Sharon Carter of Rochester, Ind., and Jessie Perry of Abbeville; and brother-in-law, Frank (Micki) Nolen of Pensacola, Fla.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. Interment will be held at Culver Masonic Cemetery, Culver, Ind.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Leukemia Society or Covenant Hospice in Daphne.
