Dorothy McVay Carstens, 87, a native of Mobile and a resident of Daphne for the past 20 years, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008 at her residence.
She was a graduate of Murphy High School and worked in Washington, D.C., for several years during World War II.
She was a charter member of the Springhill Memorial Hospital Auxillary and served as a volunteer for 23 years.
She was also a former member of the Westeria Study Club and a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Carstens, daughter, Robin Thrasher, brother, W.L. McVay, sons-in-law, Steve Thrasher and Jody Davis.
Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne Davis; two grandchildren, Joanna Davis and Michael Davis, all of Daphne.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
The family requests memorial donations be made to Christ the King Catholic Church.
