William Chester “Bill” Carrigan, 70, a native of China Grove, N.C., and a resident of Fairhope, died Friday, May 29, 2009, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
A graduate of North Carolina State University, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves. After retiring from the paper industry, he became an entrepreneur. A devout Christian and an elder at Eastern Shore Presbyterian Church, he was known throughout the community for his generosity and love of people.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Carrigan of Fairhope; daughter, Sarah (Rodney) Hofferber of Fairhope; two sons, David (Anna) Carrigan of Birmingham and Jonathan (Nicole) Carrigan of Fairhope; brother, Don (Sandee) Carrigan of China Grove, N.C.; grandchildren, Kristen Hofferber (Eric) Brown, John and Ben Hofferber and Ethan Carrigan.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 4 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. Viewing begins at 10 a.m. with funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday, June 5 at Eastern Shore Presbyterian Church in Fairhope. Graveside services follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
