LeRoy “Lee” Einar Carlson, born Dec. 8, 1929 in Rockford, Ill., the son of Esther Thorman and Carl Einar Carlson of Westergotland and Waurmland, Sweden, died Thursday, May 24, 2007.
He attended Rockford schools and graduated from East Rockford High School in 1947. He was employed by W.F. and John Barnes in Rockford and Henne Food Products.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the 44th Quartermaster Corps. He moved to Pensacola, Fla., in 1968, and was employeed by Gulf Power Co., then to Baldwin County and worked for Alabama Power Co. for 22 years, until his retirement in 1991.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairhope, and was an ordained Deacon. He was an avid fisherman and baseball fan, especially the Chicago Cubs and South Alabama Baseball.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Jean Schill Carlson of Fairhope; three sons, Mark (Lisa Baker) Carlson of Madison, Miss., Cameron Carlson of Daphne, and Daniel (Kristin Bobel) Carlson of Mobile; grandchildren, Ashliegh, Megan, Taylor, Jon Mark, David, Brooks, Parker and Elizabeth; two sisters, Gladyce (Joseph) Rondone and Mary Carlson, both of Rockford, Ill.; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 28 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home with funeral services at 1 p.m. from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Fairhope, Building Fund, 300 S. Section St., Fairhope, AL 36532.
