Carl Henry Rose, 83, born in Knoxville, Tenn. and a resident of Spanish Fort for the past 12 years, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 10, 2013.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and was the former owner of Rose Heating and Air Conditioning in Mobile. He later worked in HVAC maintenance for the Mobile County Commission until he retired.
Airplanes and flying were his favorite hobby, so much so that he went on to study and obtain his private pilot license.
He enjoyed spending time in the Pensacola Naval Aviation Museum. He also had the memorable opportunity to go on a Tiger Cruise, sailing from Portugal to Virginia Beach, Va. aboard the USS Enterprise.
Surviving is his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia M. Rose; his sister-in-law, Suzanne Grapel, Inverness, Fla.; very close friends, Ted and Joan McKelroy, Jim and Chris Britt, and Bobby and Lisa Tynes; and many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort.
A visitation will be held from noon until 1:30 p.m. at Hughes Funeral Home in Daphne. Funeral procession to follow.
Officiating will be Dr. Paul Matthews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Jubilee Baptist Church Building Fund, 9264 Pleasant Road, Daphne, AL 36526.
