Candidate forum planned for July 24

Posted

Citizens for Responsible Government and the city of Fairhope are sponsoring a public forum for all candidates running for the Alabama State Senate Seat District 32.

Five Republican candidates and one Democratic candidate will answer questions regarding issues facing District 32.

The event will be held at the Fairhope Civic Center, 161 N. Section St., Tuesday, July 24, 7 to 8:30 p.m.

During the forum each candidate will begin with a three-minute answer to the question, “What are the major issues facing District 32, and what would you do about them if elected?”

Follow-up questions will be asked and each candidate will be given two minutes to respond. The order of candidate responses will be randomly selected.

The public is invited to submit questions for the forum. All questions must be submitted in writing by e-mail or postal mail. The person submitting the question must include their name and phone number. Questions should be limited to 25 words and address issues relevant to District 32.

A panel of newspaper editors and reporters will select and edit those questions asked most frequently and judged most relevant to the district. These editors are Francis Coleman of the Press-Register, Bob Morgan of the Foley Onlooker and Graham Heath of the Baldwin Times.

Questions must be submitted by midnight Sunday, July 22 to be considered. No questions from the floor will be allowed.

Questions may be submitted to the forum coordinator, Dr. Harvey Joanning, 11 Echo Lane, Fairhope, AL 36532, or joanning@iastate.edu.
