With nearly 600 young men from across the state in attendance, Camden Boyd of Gulf Shores was awarded some top honors at this summer's 76th annual American Legion Alabama Boys State conference in Tuscaloosa.
Camden received two top awards:
1. Statewide staff voted him the "Leadership" award for his interest group which was in the Medical and Healthcare fields.
2. Fellow attendees elected him to the Office of "Judge"
Boys State delegates are selected by community leaders and their respective schools' faculty.
Camden is the son of Kay and Jeff Boyd. He begins his senior year today at Gulf Shores High School where is sure to be among its campus leaders.
Alabama Boys State is sponsored by the American Legion and is directed by retired Judge Pete Johnson of Birmingham.
