Calvin W. “Bogie” Hayles, 84, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 in Bay Minette. He was a native and lifelong resident of Lottie.
Mr. Hayles was founder and chief (he was chief for 16 years) of the Lottie Volunteer Fire Department and was an active member until his death, retired from NAS Pensacola, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a farmer.
Affectionately known as “Pop” by family and friends, he was member of Lottie United Methodist Church.
Calvin Hayles Jr. (Bubba) preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Earlene Killam Hayles of Lottie; a son, Keith (Kathy) Hayles of Lottie; a daughter, Betty Lynn (David) Corley of Lottie; two sisters, Ila Mae Kendrick of Rosinton and Eunice McNeil of Semmes; four grandchildren, Justin Hayles, Riley Waltman, Blane Waltman and Jerrod Hayles; and one great-grandchild, Keaton Waltman.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 20, 2015, at 2 p.m., at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, with the Rev. Judd Coggin and the Rev. Malcolm Harrelson officiating.
Burial will follow in Lottie Methodist Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, March 20, 2015 from noon until the service time at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jerrod Hayles, Blane Waltman and four firemen.
Honorary pallbearers will be volunteer firemen.
