Ruby Johns Byrne, 94, a native of Evergreen and a resident of Fairhope since 1939, died Thursday, July 9, 2009 at a local hospital.
Before starting her family, she was a well-known beautician in the Fairhope area. She gave up her career and became a full-time devoted wife and loving mother who was actively involved in her husband’s and children’s lives.
She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Fairhope where she was a member of the Glory Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, D.C. Byrne.
Survivors include a daughter, Denise B. (John) Greggs of Robertsdale; two sons, Dennis R. (Pat) Byrne and Donnie (Mary) Byrne, both of Fairhope; a sister, Mildred Jenkins of Montgomery; brother, Roland Johns of Fairhope; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Visitation begins at 9 a.m. with funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday, July 13 at the First Baptist Church of Fairhope with Dr. Jerry Henry officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church, 300 S. Section St., Fairhope, AL 36532.
