Mr. and Mrs. Lampkin Butts of Laurel, Miss., announce the engagement of their daughter, Stephanie Jean Butts, to James Tucker McNeese, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Cleveland McNeese Jr. of Fairhope, formerly of Laurel, Miss.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Norma Fix Butts of Laurel, Miss., and the late Lampkin Herbert Butts; Jean MacGregor of Hattiesburg, Miss., and the late Charles MacGregor.
She is a 1998 graduate of R.H. Watkins High School and a 2002 graduate of the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority at Ole Miss and was active in the art department. She is the manager of corporate recruitment at Sanderson Farms Inc., where she has been employed since 2006.
The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Annie Trippe of Havana, Fla., and the late Cecil Gordon Trippe, and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Cleveland McNeese of Tifton, Ga.
He is a 1999 graduate of Hattiesburg High School and a 2003 graduate from the University of Southern Mississippi with a bachelor of science degree in business administration.
He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity at Southern Miss. and completed the Army ROTC program. He holds the rank of captain in the Mississippi Army National Guard and has served two tours in Iraq during his 10 years of service. He is a national sales representative at Sanderson Farms Inc., where he has been employed since 2004.
The couple will exchange vows May 1, 2010 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Laurel, Miss.
