ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — “Steve has his things, I have my things and we have things we make together” said Dee Burrows, referring to the pottery making studio she and her husband operate together.
Steve and Dee Burrows will be among the more the 70 exhibitors at this year’s Orange Beach Festival of Art, which will be March 13-14 at the Waterfront Park in Orange Beach.
Steve has been making pottery for more than 30 years and Dee for over 20.
These award-winning potters make functional to decorative sculpture embellished pieces.
They mix their own clay and glazes and fire their work in wood and electric kilns.
Their studio, Sea Oats Pottery, is located on Canal Road in Gulf Shores.
The Burrows’ excellent work has won them many awards at shows and festivals.
Their winter vacations to the Bahamas have now turned into a semi-working venue as they discover clays in that region which yield an entirely new and unique look in their pottery.
In addition to exhibitors such as the Burrows, the Orange Beach Festival of Art will feature a Literary Authors’ Tent with booksignings, a performing arts stage with ballet, martial arts and acting, a wine-tasting tent, a Children’s Art Alley with six different art activities for children, and a musical stage.
The festival hours are l0 a.m. until 5 p.m. both days.
Shuttle buses will transport visitors to and from the festival site.
