Buck up and support peer helper programs: Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation holds 16th Annual Professional Rodeo & Fundraiser

Posted

The rodeo is a great time for a great cause, historically attracting more than 10,000 spectators during the course of the three-day event. From bull riding to bounce houses, there’s fun for the whole family.

The rodeo is the primary fundraiser for the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation, a nonprofit organization providing training and funding for peer-to-peer support programs in all 45 Baldwin County Schools. These programs teach students to become tutors, mentors, mediators and friends to their fellow students, supporting them through academic or personal struggles.

Both anecdotal information and evaluation data support the effectiveness of Peer Helper programs. Peer Helpers have assisted their fellow in preventing bullying, avoiding dropout, tutoring and mentoring, leaving destructive relationships, helping new students adjust and much more. Peer Helpers have touched thousands of young lives.
