Homer Brown Jr., 81, of Hokomis died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009 at Atmore Nursing Home.

He retired from Standard Furniture Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Brown Sr. and Vera Brown, two sisters, Minnie Lynch and Mae Ida Smiley, two brothers, Clarence Brown and J.S. Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Fannie Brown; five daughters, Martha (Alfred) Ingram of Atmore, Elizabeth (Albert) Hazle, Demetris (Robbert) Fountain of Pensacola, Fla., Shirley Bronw of Atmore and Chennelle Beacham of Montgomery; six sons, Willie Brown of Moss Point, Miss., Caleb (Linda) Brown of Moss Point, Roosevelt (Betty) Brown of Pine Bluff, Ark., Homer (Doritha) Brown III of Montgomery, Dewanzo Brown of Japan, and Andre Brown of Brick, N.J.; two sisters, Millie Harper of Cleveland and Vera Smallwood of Atmore; four brothers, Wallace Brown, Hoover (Helen) Brown, both of Atmore, Eugene Brown of Cleveland and Carl (Frankie) Brown of Pensacola, Fla.; 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and close friends.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18 at Turner Funeral Chapel, Atmore. Visitation also begins at 1 p.m. with funeral services at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Mt. Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop Willie Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Shiloh Cemetery.
