Disappointed by Avelo Airlines' temporary discontinuation of flights? Fear not, as a new breeze of opportunity sweeps in; Breeze Airways has just unveiled plans to bring its services to Mobile International Airport.

Breeze Airways, the U.S.'s only NLCC, or "Nice Low Cost Carrier," made the announcement Jan. 23 regarding the expansion of its services. The airline revealed plans to introduce nonstop flights from Mobile to Orlando, Florida, and one-stop BreezeThru service to Providence, Rhode Island, beginning April 10.

"Today’s announcement by Breeze Airways is exciting for citizens and the future of Mobile International," Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson said in a news release. "Breeze has an aggressive growth strategy, and their decision to begin this service in Mobile speaks to the bright future of our downtown airport. We look forward to a successful partnership and continuing our growth together."

Mobile becomes Breeze's second city served in Alabama following Huntsville in 2021. The airline currently offers flights to Las Vegas, Orlando and Tampa from Huntsville. Mobile is home to Airbus' U.S. Manufacturing Facility, where the A220-300 is assembled, the aircraft Breeze will fly for its new route.

"Breeze is thrilled to add Mobile to our growing route map, especially as its home to our fleet of Airbus A220s, 'Mobile’s hometown aircraft,'" Breeze Airways Founder and CEO David Neeleman said in a news release. "With BFM, Breeze now will serve 49 cities nationally."

Travelers can take advantage of introductory fares starting from $39 for one-way routes if purchased by Jan. 29, valid for travel until Sep. 3, 2024. Introductory fares are available until Jan. 29, 2024, for travel until Sep. 3, 2024.

New Routes Schedule:

  • Orlando, Florida (Wednesdays and Saturdays, starting April 10, from $39 one way)
  • Providence, Rhode Island (One stop/no change of plane BreezeThru service, Wednesdays and Saturdays, starting April 10)

"Breeze Airways' arrival in Mobile brings us full circle, starting with the groundbreaking of the A220 final assembly line (FAL) here years ago. Seeing these locally-made aircraft now taxiing across the runway in service to our customers is truly special," said Chris Curry, Mobile Airport Authority president. "It marks the realization of our vision for accessible travel, offering budget friendly fares to Orlando and the exciting opportunity to BreezeThru to Providence, Rhode Island."

Recognized by Travel + Leisure readers as one of the Top 5 Best U.S. Airlines for the second consecutive year, Breeze offers a range of bundled and a la carte options, including Nice, Nicer and Nicest.
