ROBERTSDALE, Ala., -- Members of the varsity and junior varsity softball teams at Robertsdale High School joined Coach Barry Roberts, Principal Joe Roh and Vice Principal Teddy Mitchell breaking ground on a new field at the RHS softball complex. The $23,000 project will include dugouts, backstop and a brick wall design matching the current varsity field.
The new field will eventually become the primary varsity field, Roberts said, while the current varsity field will become the teams’ secondary field. The team recently received a substantial donation from the Baldwin County Academic and Sports Foundation, Roberts said.
RHS Lady Bears Softball is currently conducting a “Buy a Brick” fundraising campaign to help raise money for the project.
A standard size brick with gold plate will be engraved, limited to two lines, 25 characters per line (including spacing) and will be placed on the wall behind home plate. Bricks can be used to permanently recognize players, both past and present with the players name, number and graduation year, or can be done to commemorate a family member, friend or special member of the community.
Order forms are available at RHS, from RHS players, or can be copied from the Lady Bears Booster Club Facebook page. Checks, with a copy of the form, can be mailed to Lady Bears Booster Club, P.O. Box 1902, Robertsdale, AL 36567-1902. For more information email rhsladyboosterclub@gmail.com.
