BRATS' federal grant application public hearing is May 27

BAY MINETTE, Ala. — A public hearing will be May 27 concerning a Baldwin Rural Area Transportation System (BRATS) federal grant application for administrative, operational and capital assistance funding for 2012.

The hearing will be at 10 a.m. at the Baldwin County Commission Administration Building in Bay Minette.

The service operates Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., with limited service on weekends. All residents, including wheelchair users, must schedule service 24 hours in advance. Current fares are $1 to $4 per one-way trip.

The capital grant will provide financial assistance to purchase wheelchair lift-equipped, light transit vehicles.

The public hearing is open to everyone, and accommodations will be provided for individuals with disabilities or those with limited English proficiency.
