ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — With the 2011 fall athletic season set to kick it into high gear next week, the Robertsdale High School Athletic Booster and the Robertsdale High School Bear Booster clubs are working hard together to support RHS athletics.

The Bear Booster Club, which supports the RHS football team, and the Athletic Booster Club, which supports all athletic teams at RHS, have several events planned over the next week leading up to the Golden Bears pre-season scrimmage Friday, Aug. 19 at Spanish Fort.

This Saturday, Aug. 13 the RHS Athletic Booster Club will sponsor a pancake breakfast beginning at 7 a.m. at the RHS cafeteria.

They will be serving pancakes and sausage with a choice of coffee, milk or juice at a cost of $5. The breakfast will be followed by an intersquad scrimmage at 8 a.m., then later that day, the Bear Booster Club will sponsor a drawdown at 6 p.m. at the school.

Tickets for the pancake breakfast can be purchased from a player or a Booster Club member, or at the door on the day of the event. Tickets for the drawdown can be purchased through the school or from Bear Booster Club members and must be purchased by Thursday, Aug. 11.

"We just want to take this opportunity to say how much we appreciate those businesses who always support our athletic programs," said Amanda Givens with the Booster Club. "We want to encourage all parents, businesses and the community in general to come out and suppolrt all athletics at RHS."

Then on Tuesday, Aug. 16, there will be a Meet the Bears event in the school gym.

This event is open to all athletes in all sports, Givens said. All parents, business and members of the community are encouraged to attend.

"This event is designed to introduce our student athletes from each sport," she said, "and it gives parents and members of the community an opportunity to meet and talk to the coaches from the various sports."

The Athletic Booster Club will also be offering opportunities to join the Club at the event. The $50 membership fee provides admission to all regular season, non-tournament events in every sport throughout the 2011-12 seasons, plus $17 worth of merchandise.

On Thursday, Aug. 18 at 6 p.m., the Bear Booster Club will host another Bear Invasion at Goo Roos in Robertsdale. This will be the third Bear Invasion sponsored by the Bear Booster Club.

"This is just an opportunity to express our thanks to those who give a lot to our programs," said Lauren Sanders with the Bear Booster Club.

The RHS Golden Bear Football team begins its season in earnest with a pre-season scrimmage starting at 7 p.m. on the road versus the Spanish Fort Toros. Both varsity and junior varsity teams will participate. The RHS varsity squad will host its season opener on Thursday, Aug. 25 versus Gulf Shores. Hall of Fame Night is scheduled for Sept. 2 and homecoming will be Sept. 16.

"Once school starts on Monday, everything will be moving fast over the next few weeks," Givens said. "We just want to encourage everyone to come out and support athletics at RHS."
