BAY MINETTE, Ala. — The Baldwin County Highway Department will provide barricades for the “Bookin 4 Books” 5-K Plot Trot and 1-mile Pun Run beginning at Fairhope Middle School April 9.

The Kiwanis of Fairhope and the Eastern Shore is sponsoring the event to support six public school libraries in the Fairhope community.

According to Randall Gautney, president of the group, Bookin 4 Books provided $18,900 to libraries in 2010.

Gautney said the program is a communitywide project to counter decreasing funding for school libraries.

The race begins at 8 a.m. at Fairhope Middle School on Manley Road, continues south on County Road 13 for .5 miles, then north to Manley Road. The race concludes at the school.

The Fairhope Police Department will provide security for the event.
