DAPHNE, Ala. — The Blueprint for a Better Tomorrow initiative continues to build momentum — the fundraising initiative, sponsored by the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce, received that report from David Clark, co-general chairman of the campaign.

Clark made the announcement at a recent meeting of the campaign’s volunteer leadership. “We are excited about our recent progress in Blueprint for a Better Tomorrow and the benefits that the Eastern Shore will enjoy as a result of this important community-wide effort” said Clark.

As co-general chairmen of Blueprint for a Better Tomorrow, Clark and Tim Rosson oversee a campaign that involves approximately 100 volunteers from the public and private sectors in the Eastern Shore and surrounding region. Clark and Rosson, along with the members of the campaign’s Oversight Committee, will lay out the future timetable of Blueprint for a Better Tomorrow.

They pointed out that there are a number of prospects who want to participate, including some from the public sector who have asked for more time to finalize their pledges.

The Blueprint for a Better Tomorrow initiative is an investment of $1.75 million over the next five years. Rosson reported that the campaign has received 64 pledges totaling $688,350 — 40 percent of the overall campaign goal so far.

Blueprint for a Better Tomorrow is the second community-wide initiative of its kind undertaken by the Chamber of Commerce following Blueprint for Tomorrow, which completed in 2010. The new five-year program will focus on three primary areas of concern in the Eastern Shore and Baldwin County:

  • Economic development and workforce development
  • Tourism
  • Public and community affairs

The economic and community development Business Action Plan was crafted by more than 100 corporate and community leaders. Elected officials from Daphne, Fairhope and Spanish Fort and the county, along with corporate leaders from every corner of the Eastern Shore, worked together for four months to create the Blueprint for a Better Tomorrow Business Action Plan.
