Dorothy Fondren Bloxham, 95, born and raised in Point Clear, a former resident of Tuscaloosa, as well as a 15-year resident of St. Simons Island, Ga., and a resident of Fairhope, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008.
She was a graduate of Marietta Johnson Schoool in Fairhope.
She enjoyed a long and wonderful life loved by all who knew her. She and her husband Walter Bloxham enjoyed traveling extensivly in their life together before retiring to Tuscaloosa and then to St. Simons Island, Ga.
In 2003 she returned to her native Baldwin County. Her last 13 years she resided with Skip Coffin, her companion and caregiver. Among the many honors and medals for valiant service to his country in Vietnam, no greater honor could be bestowed on Skip than that of the friendship, love and care he lavished on Dottie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, infant Joseph Aubrey Klumpp Jr. and John Sheridan Klumpp, and a grandson, Andrew Sheridan Kirby.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn (Jerry L.) Byars of Fairhope; grandchildren, Stephanie Floyd of Orlando, Fla., Christian (Anne) Kirby of Canton, Ga., Tina (Josh) Betten of Keystone Hights, Fla., Jay Klumpp of Keyston Hights, Fla., Jay (Darlene) Byars of Roswell, Ga., Cathy Carbone of Marrietta, Ga., Todd (Lisa) Byars of Alpharetta, Ga.; best friend and caregiver, Vernon "Skip" Coffin of Fairhope; 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27 at Fairhope United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Confederate Rest Cemetery.
