One of the Gulf Coast’s finest resorts is making preparations to ring in 2011 in first class style. With food galore, an impressive fireworks show, and music styles ranging from Top 40 to oldies to R&B, The Wharf’s New Year’s Eve Block Party will be bigger and better than ever.
This will be the fifth year for the New Year’s Eve shindig, with all of the festivities kicking off at 5 p.m.
Starting the evening off will be Lee Yankie, a popular act that locals have seen perform at Lulu’s and The Hangout. Influenced by the artists such as Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Led Zeppelin and B.B. King, Lee Yankie will bring a soulful R&B sound to the show.
Lee Yankie will perform from 5-7 p.m.
Another local favorite, The Rez, a band based out of Mobile, will hit the stage and play from 7-9:30 p.m. Playing everything from today’s Top 40 to oldies of years gone by, young and old alike will be dancing in the new year to the sounds of The Rez. They truly offer music from every end of the spectrum.
With their high-energy Motown tunes and oldies, Fuego will play from 10:30 p.m. to just after midnight to help to officially ring in the New Year.
With free admission to everyone, the night will conclude with a fireworks show presented by Deena and Ken Montgomery, owners of Charter Landing, Inc.
There are limited condo rentals still available for the New Years Eve Block Party, and reservations can be made by contacting The Wharf at 251-224-1500.
Restaurants at The Wharf will be offering different options for their New Year’s Eve meals. Contact the restaurants directly for seating information or to make a reservation.
