SPANISH FORT, Ala. — Passengers aboard the next Blakeley Park boat tour of the Tensaw-Mobile Delta on Saturday may spot manatees as they make their way north into the heart of the Delta where they have been observed wintering in the past.
There are no guarantees about sightings on the morning tour aboard the Delta Explorer but Blakeley’s boat captain is experienced at watching for the huge mammals that have captured the imagination of Gulf Coast residents since they were reported moving into Mobile Bay and spotted more recently in Fly Creek at Fairhope.
Regardless, there are many other species of wildlife to be seen on the two-hour guided tour.
The tour leaves the Blakeley Park dock at 9:30 a.m., goes north up the Tensaw, across the Delta, down under the Bay Way and loops back north to homeport at Blakeley.
Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis but can be reserved by paying in advance using major credit cards by calling 626-5581. Tickets cost $22 for adults, $12 for children 6 to 12 and free for children 4 to 5.
