Huey P. Blackmon, a native of Dallas County and a resident of Baldwin County for the past 20 years, died Thursday, July 5, 2007 at his residence.
He was the owner/operator of Blackmon Paint and Wall Paper Company.
He was preceded in death by his father, William A. Blackmon, his mother, Maggie Blackmon Fendley, two brothers, melvin Blackmon and George Fendley, and a sister, Alberta Boswell.
Survivors include his wife, Laura “Lucy” Blackmon; three sons, David (Dee) Blackmon, Bill (Dena) Blackmon and Alan (Susan) Murray, all of Selma; two daughters, Wanda (Scott) Harrison of Selma, and Cheryl (Cliff) Adams of Magnolia Springs; two brothers, William Blackmon of Jacksonville, Ark., and Tony (Peggy) Fendley of Selma; five sisters, Mary Williamson of Selma, Evie (Vernon) Thomas of Birmingham, Shirley (Arlon) Thacher, Ann (Bobby) Bedgood and Linda (Faron) York, all of Selma; nine grandchildren, Robert (Amy) Blackmon, Daniel Blackmon, Justin Blackmon, Alex Harrison, Olivia Harrison, all of Selma, Chelsea Merchant, Abbie Adams of Magnolia Springs, Jenna Murray and Hannah Murray, both of Selma; a great-grandson, Zachery Blackmon of Selma; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held beginning at 10 a.m. with funeral services beginning at noon Monday, July 9, from the chapel of Pine Rest Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Cemetery.
