Billy Don Moore, 81, went to be with our Savior on May 25, 2013 at Aldersgate Retirement Community in Charlotte, N.C.
He was born in Fayetteville, Tenn. on Jan. 4, 1932 to Hugh and Nellie Moore. He soon moved and was raised in Nashville, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Genevieve Lent Moore. They met in 1952 in Germany while he served in the Army. They married in Nashville, where they raised a family.
Don worked as a purchasing manager for 30 years, eventually moving to Pulaski, Tenn. Don and Genny enjoyed 15 years of retirement in Foley.
He is survived by his two daughters, Donna Jean Moore Luther (Charles Lynn) and Mary Rebecca “Becka” Moore Tait (David); and four grandchildren, Emily Luther Sodders, Nathan Luther, Andrew Tait and Charlie Tait.
He enjoyed photography, home repair and volunteer work at the Foley Church of Christ. He was a devout Christian and supportive father, and will be missed by his family.
The family would like to thank the Cuthbertson Village Memory Support and Asbury Care Center of Aldersgate Retirement Community and Hospice and Palliative Care for their wonderful care of our father.
At his request, there will not be a memorial service or funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Dr., Charlotte, N.C. 28215, or to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 1420 E. Seventh St., Charlotte, N.C. 28204.
