Big Rigs rolling back into Foley for annual Touch-A-Truck event

Posted

Children will have the chance to climb into the world of big trucks, heavy equipment and community service vehicles during the Foley Community Library’s Third-Annual Big Rigs at the Library: A Touch-a-Truck event.

The free, family-friendly event is scheduled for 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, on the lawn of the Foley Recreation Department’s Activity Center behind City Hall. The center, located at 315 E. Jessamine Ave., is at the former site of the Foley National Guard armory.

The event will give children an up-close look at a variety of large vehicles and equipment, including tractors, backhoes, bucket trucks and other rigs. Through hands-on experiences, children can explore the machines and learn how the equipment is used in the community.

Vehicles and equipment from the Foley Fire Department, Foley Police Department, Public Works Department and Street Department will be available for children to explore.

Maynard Family Farms also will participate with a petting zoo. Kona Ice and ReNew Coffee Truck will be on-site offering treats and drinks for purchase, while local musician Jesse Taylor Perry will return to provide live music.

No registration is required. Admission is free.
