Joan Fredricka Wagner Berry, 80, former resident of Gulf Shores and a resident of Foley, died Oct. 25, 2009 at home in Foley after a long battle with lung cancer.
She had a long and varied career as a teacher, social worker, business owner with her husband, and realtor. She was an avid reader and a duplicate bridge life master. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gulf Shores and a volunteer social worker at the Gulf Shores Christian Service Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward R. “Pete” Berry, and her parents, James Frederick and Dorothy Wagner.
Survivors include three children, Catherine Muldoon, James Brown and Diane Brown; step-daughter, Martha Zeis; four grandchildren, Aaron Matthews, Nathan Wight, Bethany Wight and Heather McClanahan; and three great-grandchildren.
An open house to celebrate her life will be held Thanksgiving weekend.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Christian Service Center, 317 Dolphin Ave., Gulf Shores, AL 36542.
