Benny “Max” Byrd, 76 a native of Baldwin County and a resident of Robertsdale, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010.
He served in the U.S. Army; was a member of the VFW and enjoyed coaching little league baseball in central Baldwin County.
He was preceded in death by wife, Mary Ellen Byrd; son, Benny Michael Byrd; and grandson, Robert Brian Waters.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharon D. (Dale) Waters and Kim Byrd, both of Robertsdale, and Pam C. Byrd of Foley; son, Steven Max (Rene) Byrd of Robertsdale; sister, Mary Devine of Loxley; two brothers, Junior Byrd and Bill Byrd, both of Loxley; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. with funeral services at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22 from the chapel of Mack Funeral Home with Brother Charles Dugger officiating.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are by Mack Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Robertsdale.
