ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — Would $5,000 be nice to have in these trying economic times? The Robertsdale High School Football Team’s “Bear Club” thinks it would and will be giving it away to a lucky winner on Saturday, Aug. 14 when they host the 1st Annual Bear Club Drawdown fundraiser.

Held at the PZK Civic Center in Robertsdale from 6 p.m-until, this event will usher in the start of the 2010 Robertsdale High School football season, according to Mary Thompson, coordinator of the event, and will be the first of many events planned by the Bear Club this year.

Tickets are $75 but can be used for one or two people and includes a catered dinner, dancing and live entertainment, Thompson explained, and can be purchased by contacting Thompson at (251) 946-2090 or RHS at 947-5467.

“This is the first fundraiser we are doing and are really excited about it. Our boys have worked really hard this summer and we have some real talent with our team and new coaches this year,” Thompson said.

Magnolia Blossom Cafe will be providing the meal and Terry Waters will provide the entertainment for the evening. In addition, Thompson said local businesses such as State Farm, PYW Insurance and others have donated items for door prizes.

“There will be many items for those attending to have a chance to win and we are anticipating some really good packages to be given out during the course of the evening. RHS will also be donating t-shirts, hats and other football-related items,” Thompson commented.

The money for the $5,000 drawing will come directly from ticket sales, so the more tickets sold, the better, Thompson said. “We really want everyone to get on board with the team this year and this is a really good way to support them.”

To find out more about the team or the Bear Club, Thompson said to check out their website: www.rhsbearclub.com or their RHS Football Bear Club Facebook page.
