Bayside Academy senior outfielder Jack Woods announced his commitment to the Delta State baseball program.

Listed at 6' 2" and 185 pounds, he has a top exit velocity of 89 mph, hand speed of 24.6 mpg, bat speed of 72.5 mph and a 60-yard dash time of 7.29 seconds according to Prep Baseball Report.

At this summer at PBR's Alabama All-State Games, he added an outfield velocity of 78 mph, a top speed of 19.2 mph and a jump power of 1,555.

For his spring season with the Admirals, Woods was named to Mobile Baseball Connections' third-team all-county. According to unofficial statistics, he finished with a .329 batting average with 26 hits – three doubles and two home runs – 17 runs, 12 RBIs, 8 walks and a stolen base.

Woods will look to help Bayside Academy construct another deep postseason run after the Admirals went to the state quarterfinals this past season just a year removed from being state runners-up.

After that, he'll join the Delta State program that earned the No. 1 seed heading into the 2022 Gulf South Conference Championship tournament following a 20-7 mark in the conference.

The Statesmen went on to finish fourth in the tournament with a win that opened the tournament and another after their first loss in the consolation bracket.

Delta State currently has three former players who are active on Major and Minor League rosters. Trent Giambrone and Dalton Moats were both drafted in 2016 where the former made it to the big leagues with the Chicago Cubs in 2021. Giambrone registered five games of MLB action last season and currently plays for the Triple-A affiliate Iowa Cubs.

Moats is pitching for the Montgomery Biscuits, the Double-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, and Tanner Propst signed a free-agent deal with the Colorado Rockies in 2020. He is currently pitching for the Fresno Grizzlies in Low-A.
