DAPHNE, Alabama — The Bayside Academy Lady Admirals improved to 9-8 with an 8-1 final-regular-season-game win over J.U. Blacksher in Daphne Tuesday.
Admiral left hander Erin Brown went the distance for the win with a four hitter, four strike outs and allowed only one (earned) run.
Sydney Chandler went 3-for-4 at the plate while Brown and Lauren Chastang also had three hits each. Chandler drove in two of her three RBIs with a triple. Chastang had a pair of RBIs. Maggie Cooper drove in two runs off two hits. Ali Chastang had an RBI single and Anabel Jones had a bunt single. Mary Katherine Griffin led the Bulldogs with two hits and the RBI.
Chandler also hit the first home run by a softball Admiral at McGill-Toolen Catholic Monday night, possibly the first homer for a B.A. fastpitch player ever.
“It’s good to get that win going into the area tournament,” said Bayside coach Brittany Davidson. “We are starting to hit the ball better. I’m proud of them and hope this will give us some momentum going into the tournament.”
Bayside Academy will face either the number one seed W.S. Neal or second seed T. R Miller at Neal in East Brewton this weekend.
