DAPHNE, Ala. — The Bayside Admirals picked up two area wins last week at Excel and at home and advanced to the first round of the 3A state playoffs.
The Admirals improved to 5-3 in 3A Area 1 and picked up their 20th win of the season (20-5) with an 11-4 home win over the Panthers on Thursday and out paced them at Excel High the day before 13-7.
Bayside starter Hunter Slater (3-1) scattered five hits in four innings of work with Jacob Graddick closing in relief. Slater also had three hits and four RBIs at the plate. Geoffrey Brooks added two hits with a pair of RBIs.
At Excel, Admiral Joe Vincent went the distance with a complete game for Bayside in the 13-7 victory.
Slater was hot at the plate with three RBIs on three hits, Joe Stassen added two hits with two RBIs and Geoffrey Brooks slapped a three-run triple for the Admirals.
Excel got two hits apiece from Justin Watters and Hagan Harrison. And Thomas Padgett hit a two-run double in game two.

Gulf Shores 5
GULF SHORES — The Gulf Shores Dolphins fell to Austin 7-5 on Thursday in the Coastal Classic baseball tournament championship game on Thursday.
The Dolphins went 4-2 in the tournament and improved to 13-11 overall.

Foley 5-2
FOLEY — Robertsdale defeated Foley 11-5 and 9-2 on Saturday. Flynn Woods had a three-run double in the 11-5 win, while Todd Wilcox had three hits and three RBIs for the Bears in the 9-2 win.
