DAPHNE, Alabama— Eastern Shore teams took part in different tournaments over the Thanksgiving Holidays.
At Bayside Academy, the Lady Admirals hosted Clarke County, Robertsdale and Spanish Fort in a classic round-robin Thanksgiving tournament format.
The Lady Golden Bears went 2-0 with a 48-25 win over Bayside and a 44-41 come-from-behind Robertsdale win over Spanish Fort. Junior center Maddie Petite scored 16 and 19 points in each game. Austin Richardson had 16 against B.A. and Beth Taylor added 14 against SFHS.
Clarke County also went 2-0 with a 51-24 win over SF and a 54-27 win over the hosting team. Elaine Wood led Spanish Fort’s Lady Toros (2-3) with 16 points against the CCHS Lady Bulldogs and poured in 28 against the Lady Bears in what was the best match up of the week. Petite went 9-for-9 at the line down the stretch to help the Bears rally past SF in the final minutes. Lauren Davis added nine for the Toros.
Rachel Brownlee had team-leading totals of 12 and 13 for the Lady Bulldogs while Virginia Pittman led the 3-2 Lady Admirals with game high’s of 18 and 21. Jhalen Caffey added eight for B.A.
On the boys side of the Bayside tournament, the 3A Admirals went 2-1 with a 47-37 win over 4A Randolph, a 47-44 overtime win over 4A Clarke County and a 47-30 loss to 4A Escambia County’s (Atmore) Blue Devils. The CCHS Bulldogs split 2-1 as well winning 67-64 in overtime against the Blue Devils and also defeated Randolph’s Raiders 47-23 while the Raiders rallied to beat the Blue Devils 54-47.
The Bayside brotherhood led the Ads as Dakota Brodie scored 13 points, his brother Channing 11, Spencer Newman 10 and his brother Nelson nine points to lead the host team (3-1) over Clarke County (3-1). Tied 40-40 after regulation, Channing Brodie led the overtime scoring for Bayside with five of the team’s seven including a 3-pointer while Dakota chipped in a pair from the line. Clarke County's Jamal Harris led all scorers with 29 points.
In the Randolph win Nelson Newman led with 15 points and Spencer added 11 while Dakota Brodie recorded eight. Tre Tipton had 14 points to lead the Raiders while and Mike Rainey posted 13.
In the Clarke County (4-1), Blue Devils (2-3) showdown the score was tied 53-53 after 48 minutes. But Harris finished strong with a game-changing 31 points for the Bulldogs to lead the floor and team-CC. Desmond Williams had 22 points to lead the Blue Devils, while Fred Knight added 17.
In the Randolph win over ECHS, Tre Tipton led the Raiders with 25 points and Michael Rainey scored 17 to lead a second-half comeback as the Raiders (2-3) went on a 13-2 Blue Devils (2-2) in the final eight minutes.
In the CC Bulldogs’ 47-23 win over Randolph, Harris scored 24 points and Gainel Alvarez added 10.
