Bayside Academy opens new middle school building

DAPHNE — Bayside Academy celebrated a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new middle school building on Oct. 28.

The new building has flexible classrooms, integrated technology and open common areas to serve as learning spaces.

Head of School, Scott Phillipps, spoke at the event, which attracted a crowd of students, faculty, alumni, families and friends. He said the new building is a symbol of Bayside's "unwavering commitment to excellence and education."

"This is a building that will continue to serve the next generation as they learn and grow," he said. "But I want to point out, this is just the beginning. This middle school marks phase one of our capital campaign, a bold vision that will continue to transform our campus."

Before ribbon cutting attendees entered the building to look around, students placed items in a time capsule.

Students put in documents that stated Bayside's mission, honor code and core values, a copy of Jubilee magazine, a piece of the former middle school building Mitchell Hall, photos of the new building's construction, this year's Bayside Academy directory, a time stamp document for 2025, a school uniform and a thank you note from a middle school student.

The time capsule was created to "honor the journey that brought us here and to preserve a piece of this special time."
