The Class 1A State Championship MVP, Bayshore Christian shortstop Streed Crooms, announced his college decision on social media Monday afternoon.
The Eagles’ rising senior infielder announced he’ll take his talents to Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in Andalusia and continue his baseball career with the Saints.
As a junior, Crooms recorded a .354 batting average and helped Bayshore Christian claim its second straight Class 1A title. He was named the Class 1A State Championship MVP for his efforts and will help the Eagles in their transition to 2A as a senior after the competitive balance factor bumped them up.
Crooms was named to the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s first-team all-state as a utilityman, landed on the first-team all-county as created by the Mobile Baseball Connection and was on the second-team all-academic as honored by the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association with a 3.86 GPA.
This summer, he also competed in the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s North-South All-Star game where he helped the South squad earn one of its three wins on the weekend when they beat the North All-Stars in Game 1.
The Lurleen B. Wallace Saints compete in the Alabama Community College Conference and earned a play-in game to the playoff tournament last season although they lost to Lawson State 10-3.
Earlier this offseason, recent Bayside Academy graduate Logan Brown inked his commitment to the Saints’ baseball program at a signing ceremony May 11.
