Bay Minette rec department gets donation for sports fields

Posted

The Fly High Goose Foundation recently presented a donation of $13,600 to the Bay Minette Recreation Department for new practice fields for its youth sports programs.

The funding will be used to transform the old softball field at John White Park into two multi-purpose practice fields. These fields will include four soccer/football combo goals for use.

"The Recreation Department would like to thank the Fly High Goose Foundation for its generous donation toward our White's Park Renovation Project," Rec Director Blake Clark said. "This project will help give our different youth programs more space to practice and play. We couldn't have put this project in motion without these funds from the Foundation."

The Fly High Goose Foundation was formed in the memory of Adrian "Goose" Johnson, a 19-year-old Stockton resident who died in a tragic vehicle accident in 2019. Amber Johnson, Goose's mom, said the donation was particularly close to their heart.

"Goose love to play soccer and football, and with this donation our local community kids will be able to practice the sports Goose loved," she said.

The mission of the Fly High Goose Foundation is "to inspire generations and enrich the lives of youth by demonstrating and supporting activities for those who love the outdoors. We give back to the community and surroundings areas to honor and respect the life of one who had a heart for service and helping others." To learn more about the Foundation, visit flyhighgoose.com.
