Bay Minette OKs animal benefit rodeo

BAY MINETTE, Alabama — The Bay Minette City Council last Monday endorsed a “Rescue Rodeo” to benefit North Baldwin Animal Shelter and approved use of the Carol Hodgson Arena March 31-April 1 for the event. The Alabama High School Rodeo Association promotes interest in rodeo sports among high school student for training, promoting the western lifestyle and promoting positive values, according to the organization’s agenda item information. Members are required to maintain excellent GPA standarts, and the group promotes events in Alabama and the Southeast. In the wake of recent reports of animal cruelty, AHSRA members in the Bay Minette community have chosen the rodeo to promote the efforts of the North Baldwin Animal Shelter, according to Tyler White, a member of the Baldwin County High School National Honor Society and an AHSRA member. In other matters, the council: 1 Approved a $75 funding request from Police Chief Michael Rowland for Officer Clarence Crook IV to attend a Field Trainint Course at the Stapleton Sheriff’s Department Firing Range March 20-22. 1 Approved $50 fees for Sgts. Richard Davis and Rene Peebles to attend a Use of Force-Legal Aspects course April 12, also at the Stapleton facility. Approved $694 for city clerk Rita Findley to attend a personnel administration seminar in Montgomery March 29-30.
