BAY MINETTE, Alabama — Three new sycamore trees have been planted at Halliday Park in Bay Minette thanks to a contribution by the Bay Minette Lions Club.

The service organization follows Four Core Community Activities: Sharing the Vision, Relieving the Hunger, Engaging Our Youth and Protecting Our Environment.

To work toward these core activities the Lion Club participates in and donates to many local causes such as donating the trees for the park.

The club also partners with vision centers in the area to support low-income individuals with their eye care needs including vision screenings, corrective lenses and frames. The Lions Club sponsors a Fall food drive at Walmart and donates the food to Family Service Center in Bay Minette. The group also works with the American Legion to sponsor high school students for Alabama Boys State. Club members also volunteered at the community clean-up day at Bay Minette Elementary.

The Lions Club meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month at various locations. For more information call Hank Lahti, club president, at 251-533-3365.
