As summer approaches, Bay Minette city leaders are encouraging families to take advantage of a packed schedule of camps, sports, educational programs and community activities while also keeping safety and hurricane preparedness top of mind.
From athletics and arts to literacy programs and youth leadership opportunities, city officials said Summer 2026 will offer activities aimed at keeping children active, engaged and connected throughout the break.
“Summer is one of the busiest and most exciting times of the year in Bay Minette,” Mayor Josh Brown said. “We are proud to have so many organizations, churches, departments, and volunteers working together to provide positive opportunities for our youth and families.”
Alongside the summer programming, the City of Bay Minette, Bay Minette City Council and Bay Minette Police Department are continuing discussions surrounding public safety concerns tied to the growing popularity of e-bikes and e-scooters.
“As these devices continue to grow in popularity, we want to ensure riders understand how to operate them properly in order to protect pedestrians, motorists, and neighborhoods,” Brown said. “The safety of our community will always remain a priority for this administration.”
City officials are encouraging parents to discuss safe riding practices with children including helmet use, obeying traffic laws and remaining aware of surroundings while operating e-bikes and e-scooters. Similar concerns have emerged in communities across Alabama and the Gulf Coast as the devices become increasingly common among young riders.
Leaders are also reminding residents that hurricane season officially begins June 1 and are encouraging families to review emergency plans, prepare disaster supply kits and monitor weather conditions throughout the summer months. Baldwin County communities routinely prepare for tropical weather during the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs through Nov. 30.
