BAY MINETTE, Ala. — Tonight’s Bay Minette City Council meeting will feature the discussion of pending construction at the Bay Minette Airport.

According to information provided by Bay Minette City Clerk Rita Findley, representatives of Volkert & Associations, Bay Minette Aviation and Bay Minette Airport Authority are slated to give a presentation on the project that would be funded by the Federal Aviation Administration.

“It’s a grant to do a parallel taxi-way,” Findley explained in a telephone interview. “They’ll talk about what has to be done for it to get started.”

Findley said construction timelines and specifics would likely be announced during today’s meeting, which is set for 6 p.m. at City Hall, following a 5:30  p.m. work session.

Also tonight, the council will:

* Consider a resolution to award a bid on a wheel excavator.

* Consider an agreement to make Littler Mindleson as attorneys for the employee handbook.

* Recognize Little League District 3 as 7- and 8-year-old champions.

* Consider the following travel requests:

- Bay Minette Fire Chief Phil Brayars and Deputy Chief Michael Minchew to attend the Alabama Fire Chiefs Leadership Conference Aug. 2-5 in Orange Beach at a cost of $2,106.20.

- Bay Minette Police Chief Michael Rowland to attend the Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police Aug. 1-4  in Gulf Shores at a cost of $1,053.83.

- Timeka Cunningham of the Bay Minette Finance Department to attend Community Development June 24 in Montgomery at a cost of $270.16.

- Bay Minette Animal Control Officer Gina Jones to attend the Animal Agriculture 101 workshop June 30 in Mobile at a cost of $15.
