BAY MINETTE, Ala. — Tonight, the Bay Minette City Council will hold a work session at 5:30 p.m. and council meeting at 6 p.m. at Bay Minette City Hall.

The council will hear a presentation on Relay for Life from Recreation Director Kelly Johnson and Sgt. James Eissler of the Bay Minette Police Department.

The run will be held at Baldwin County High School track on April 29 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

"We will have a Relay here in Bay Minette and the city has a team," said Rita Findley, Bay Minette city clerk, in a telephone interview.

Relay is a fund-raising organization for the American Cancer Society.

Anyone can form a team and find information, download forms, posters and more from www.relayforlife.org.

Another item on today’s agenda is the recreation department’s summer program.

Johnson will discuss plans for children’s activities in the program, Kelly's Kids, according to Findley.

She said the details of the summer program will be revealed tonight.

Council members will consider a travel request for Eissler to attend a property and evidence room technician training course in Robertsdale. The registration fee would cost the city $150.

He would study topics such as forms as data-gathering tools, chain of custody, packing and submission, access and security, computerized tracking and bar coding, storage locations, notifications, inspections, audits, inventories, temporary release and final disposition and destruction of stored case evidence, according to a letter from Bay Minette Police Chief Michael Roland.

Also at today’s meeting, the council will consider committee and board reports, proclaim Child Abuse Month and hear a presentation by Nick Warren of the Baldwin County Archive and History Department.
