Charlie Monroe Barnett, 91 of Sumiton, died Friday, June 29, 2007, at his residence.
He was retired from St. Regis Paper Co. at Cantonment, Fla., where he worked as an engraver. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hayes Jernigan Barnett.
Survivors include his wife, Mozelle Barnett of Sumiton; six sons, the Rev. Charlie (Janice) Barnett Jr. of Bon Secour, John E. “Buddy” (Vanessa) Barnett of Clear Springs, George (Anita) Barnett of Molino, Fla., Joe (Glenda) Barnett of Gateswood, Jimmy (Brenda) Barnett of Molino, Fla., and Gene (Debra) Barnett of Clear Springs; four daughters Sue (Ed) Lane of Clear Springs, Janie Quick of Clear Springs, Sheila (David) Gravlee of Sumiton, and Regina (Jimmy) Phillips of Sumiton; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services and visitation were held July1 at New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Burial followed at the McCormick Cemetery with the Rev. James Hockensmith and the Rev. Charlie Barnett Jr. officiating.
Arrangements were made by New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home in Dora.
