The Baldwin County Humane Society (BARC!) Pet Food Pantry received a large donation from Surgical Services at Springhill Medical Center. “Operation Care” was a week-long collection of dog food, cat food and cat litter spearheaded by Barbara Hodges.
“All of our doctors, nurses and support staff were generous” remarked Hodges who also fosters for BARC’s Kitten Kaboodles program.
Sonja Presley, BARC! Executive Director commented “We will take what Surgical Services collected straight to Prodisee Pantry on Tuesday when we’re on-site with the mobile BARC! Pet Food Pantry. We average giving away 942 pounds of pet food for 252 dogs and cats every week in Spanish Fort.”
BARC! has partnered with community food banks to assist income-eligible families with food for their dogs and cats to make sure families can keep them.
The BARC! Pet Food Pantry has given away 15,079 pounds of food to 4,078 dogs and cats since it launched in May 2010.
They have provided pet food to 1,350 familes for an average of helping 84 families a week.
