Baptist Heart & Vascular Institute has welcomed James Lonquist, M.D., FACS, a triple board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon with three decades of experience caring for patients with complex heart and vascular conditions.
According to a news release, Lonquist joins the Pensacola-based institute after most recently serving as director of cardiovascular surgery for Advent Health in Ocala, Florida. He brings 30 years of experience in cardiothoracic surgery and is known for developing individualized, comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
Lonquist earned his medical degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa and his Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida in Gainesville. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Texas, followed by a fellowship in cardiovascular research and cardiac transplantation at the Texas Heart Institute in Houston. He also completed a cardiothoracic surgery residency at the Texas Heart Institute and MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in general surgery, the American Board of Thoracic Surgery in cardiothoracic surgery and the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine in vascular surgery. His professional memberships include the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons and the Denton A. Cooley Cardiovascular Surgical Society.
As part of Baptist Heart & Vascular Institute, Lonquist will see patients at the Bear Family Foundation Health Center, located at 125 Baptist Way, Suite 3B in Pensacola. The institute is part of Baptist Health Care, a regional health system serving Northwest Florida and South Alabama.
