Baptist Health Care Foundation has raised more than $93,500 to support its Mammogram Fund, which provides lifesaving screenings, education and early detection resources for uninsured individuals in the community, according to a news release.
Since its inception, the fund has helped remove barriers to care, providing mammograms for 3,024 patients over the past 16 years. Of those screened, 813 required additional testing and 36 were diagnosed with breast cancer, the release said.
"Early detection saves lives, and thanks to our donors, thousands of women have received critical screenings they otherwise could not afford," said Heather Moorer, Foundation director.
The Foundation works year-round with community partners and donors to raise funds and awareness for the program. Partners supporting this initiative include Pensacola Breast Cancer Association, Pink Pirates of Navarre, Tate High School Booster Club, Your Local Honda Dealer, The Grand Marlin Pensacola Beach, Jewelers Trade Shop and Oyster Bay Boutique Hotel, per the release.
