Residents can help save lives and support local veterans Nov. 5 as Baldwin EMC prepares to host its 21st annual Power of Giving Blood and Veterans Supply drive at its headquarters.
According to a news release, the event will bring together two community efforts, with LifeSouth Community Blood Centers collecting blood donations and Baldwin EMC gathering supplies for veterans. Blood donations will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the cooperative’s Training Center. Baldwin EMC is located at 19600 State Highway 59 in Summerdale.
All supplies collected during the drive will be donated to the William F. Green Veterans Home in Bay Minette, continuing Baldwin EMC’s tradition of recognizing and supporting those who have served in the military.
"Power of Giving is an opportunity for our community to make a meaningful impact right here at home," Mark Ingram, vice president of corporate services and public relations at Baldwin EMC, said in the release. "Whether you donate blood, contribute supplies for our veterans, or participate in both efforts, your generosity can help save lives and support those who have served our country."
Blood donors must be in good health, at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. Participants also must present a valid photo ID.
Those with questions about their eligibility can contact LifeSouth at (251) 621-9644.
Baldwin EMC encourages residents to participate by donating blood, contributing supplies for veterans or doing both to help local patients and honor area veterans.
